Film Producers’ Foundation Certificate

Starts: Tuesday 22 September
Duration: Five Tuesday evenings

You have found the script, discovered exciting talent and begun assembling your crew. Now comes the challenge: finding the money, managing the production, and getting the finished film in front of an audience.

The Film Producers’ Foundation Certificate explores the essential skills required to develop, finance, budget, produce, market and sell a film. You will also learn how producers handle contracts, rights and other important legal and business responsibilities.

Each of the five evenings has a different tutor who focuses on a specific area of producing, giving you practical knowledge you can apply directly to your own project.

Each week is taught by a different working industry professional.

Screenwriters’ Foundation Certificate

Starts: Tuesday 10th November
Duration: Five Tuesday evenings

Every film begins with an idea. The challenge is turning that idea into a screenplay people want to read—and eventually produce.

This five-week screenwriting course provides a detailed overview of the skills, knowledge and professional requirements for those wishing to write for the screen.

The information covered in the Screenwriters’ Foundation Certificate includes viable idea generation, screenplay formatting, as well as character, plot and structure creation. The course will include a pitching skills workshop – an essential skill for screenwriters in getting their projects made.

Film Directors’ Foundation Certificate

Starts: Monday 9th November
Duration: Five Monday evenings

The director is ultimately responsible for every image and sound that reaches the screen. It is a creative role, a technical role and a leadership role and all at once.

The Film Directors’ Foundation Certificate provides a practical introduction to the craft and responsibilities of directing for the screen. Across five evenings, you will explore the essential skills, knowledge and professional practices needed to translate a screenplay into a compelling film.

Whether you are preparing to direct your first short or want to strengthen your understanding of the director’s craft, this course will help you approach the set with greater clarity and confidence.

Presented by veteran film director, Simon Hunter. Simon has directed six features and over 150 shorts and commercials.
