A film that charts the artistic and personal relationship between two era-defining artists, Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala (At the Drive-In / The Mars Volta), told almost entirely through hundreds of hours of self-shot footage filmed by Omar over the last 40 years.
“If this ever gets weird, promise me we’ll just stop.” When Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala started writing music as young teenagers, they could never have dreamed of the path on which it would take them. And this was no dream: over the next 35 years, the duo have formed iconic rock bands including At The Drive In and the Mars Volta; and shared countless triumphs and tribulations along the way.
Whittled down from hundreds of hours of footage shot by Rodriguez-Lopez throughout their lives, Omar And Cedric shows the duo’s journey from the hardcore scene in El Paso, Texas, to rock and roll acclaim – and the ensuing pressures put on their partnership. Made in association with Pulse Films, who have recently chronicled Lewis Capaldi, the Beastie Boys and The Strokes, Nicolas Jack Davies’ film shines the spotlight in areas we don’t usually see; including Bixler-Zavala’s Scientology, and its awful recent connections.
Do not miss this first opportunity to ride along with the duo on their journey, which is so much more than a road to stardom. It is a depiction of love, death and inspiration – with a soundtrack that has defined a generation.
