Floyd Webb is a Clarksdale, Mississippi Delta–born filmmaker, producer, and cultural organizer whose work spans continents and decades of creative innovation. His international collaborations include projects with South African director Mandla Dube, pioneering filmmaker Julie Dash, British-Ghanaian artist John Akomfrah, American documentarian St. Clair Bourne, and Cameroonian director Jean-Pierre Bekolo. As a producer, Floyd has been at the forefront of independent cinema, from his early role on Dash’s groundbreaking film Daughters of the Dust—the first feature by an African American woman to gain U.S. theatrical distribution—to his recent work producing Legally Drugged (2024). He is currently producing and directing Capturing Joy, a feature documentary on the history and impact of Black photography. A lifelong innovator, Floyd’s career bridges experimental media, documentary storytelling, and global cultural exchange—always with a commitment to amplifying voices and stories often left at the margins.
