The digital world allows videos and images to be shared easily. The content you create has its unique value, and your created content can become an NFT. Some artists are even beginning to build a profit from them. Here’s all you need to know about this rising trend.
What is an NFT?
NFT stands for non-fungible tokens. They are digital assets, such as art, video clips, or music. The advantage to owning an NFT is that it’s one of a kind and has an identification code. So even if people make digital copies, they can’t copy the value associated with the original content.
How Does It Work?
NFTs are bought and sold online using a form of cryptocurrency. A cryptocurrency is a digitized form of payment you can use to purchase products or services, like Bitcoin. One of the advantages of this form of currency is that it doesn’t go through a bank.
NFTs are part of the Ethereum cryptocurrency blockchain. This means you use a software platform called ethereum to pay for your currency. It also creates a permanent record of all online transactions.
Once you sell the NFT, you also receive a percentage of the profits.
How to Make an NFT
When making an NFT, the first step is to create a digital file. You can choose from a variety of different file types, from JPEGs to GIFs. There are also many forms of content you can create, from funny memes to original artwork and video clips of your films.
Keep in mind the type of audience you want your work to reach. Think about things such as demographics and psychographics. Designing with a target audience in mind can help your content sell faster.
How to Sell an NFT
1. Set Up Your Wallet
The next step after you have created your NFT is to price and sell it online. Before putting it on the market, you will need to set up an ethereum wallet. This digital wallet allows you to store your cryptocurrency securely. It also allows you to create accounts and sign into the marketplace safely.
Ethereum wallets come in various options.
Here are some digital wallet options to consider looking into:
2. Purchase a Small Amount of Ethereum
Once you set up your wallet, you want to buy some Ethereum to cover the costs of creating the content. To produce the image or video is free. However, there may be fees associated with turning your content into an NFT.
Start by deciding how much you want to invest and then purchase that amount. Some wallet apps allow you to buy cryptocurrency right on the app, but others have you transfer it over.
3. Choose a Platform
Now that you have some cash, it’s time to get your content onto the marketplace. There are multiple places to choose from when it comes to selling your NFT.
Here are some common marketplaces to get you started:
- Rarible: This site is easily accessible and allows you to start selling your work as soon as you sign up.
- Zora: They allow content creators to back control by minting their videos, images, and audio files.
- SuperRare: This site tailors to digital artwork, creating a gallery-type atmosphere.
- Nifty Gateway: They focus mainly on digital collectibles and work with high-profile artists and musicians. They also accept credit cards.
- OpenSea: OpenSea is one of the earliest marketplaces and has a wide variety of content. It is also open to new users and easy to access. (check out the Raindance NFTs on Opensea)
3. Price Your Content
When deciding how to price your NFT, consider what other pieces on the market are selling for. You want to set realistic expectations, especially if you’re newer. Consider starting it at a lower price and increasing it once you sell more work.
Another thing to keep in mind is to use multiple sites to sell your content. This can help you reach more people. Also, try to keep your pricing consistent over each platform. However, you can still experiment to find your set pricing first. You could also create incentives by having the buyer receive a t-shirt or discount code.
4. List It on the Marketplace
When you decide on the price, it’s time to put your NFT onto the market. Most platforms will have a “create” button that allows you to download your content and describe it. Then you will need to set your price and pay any fees. Once your NFT is online, consider advertising it on your social media accounts.
5. Wait for Bids
With your NFT on the marketplace, you’re playing the waiting game. People can see your content and make bids online. Many platforms don’t provide bid notifications, so you may need to check back regularly.
How Are NFTs Being Used?
With NTfs becoming an emerging trend, here are some of the industries taking advantage of it.
The Art Industry
Artists can use NFTs to showcase their new pieces. Traditional art galleries and auctions limit the number of people artists can connect with. With their work displayed online, they can reach a wider audience. They also receive a profit percentage from royalties.
Companies
NFTs can be an excellent way for companies to raise brand awareness and generate new leads. By having unique content online, brands can get consumers interested in learning more about the organization. Taco Bell is one company that has begun using NFTs as a marketing tool by creating taco-themed gifs.
The Film Industry
NFTs and the film industry are still a newer concept. However, filmmakers can release iconic movie scenes or cinematic merchandise to generate additional revenue — or to advertise a new film release. For new film producers, NFTs can be a great way to get their name out there and start creating a fanbase. They often work best for a short film.
Here’s how to to make an NFT with a film clip:
- Edit your video clip on a software platform, such as Premiere
- Keep clips with clear audio
- Delete any shaky footage
- Incorporate shots from multiple angles
- Choose a platform and list your completed content
- Market your NFT on social media

I think NFT technology is the future. NFT is not only very expensive eight-bit pictures, it is something more. This technology allows you to prove ownership, removes unnecessary intermediaries from the transaction and the history of all transactions is open and transparent. But creating an NFT and selling it are two different things. Undoubtedly, the sale of your NFT will involve difficulties for which you must be prepared.
