EMC Productions is proud to announce the release of TRAMP, an audacious debut feature from award-winning filmmaker Philip James McGoldrick. This gripping sports drama weaves the high-stakes intensity of mixed martial arts with the deeply personal challenges of pregnancy and motherhood, offering a narrative as raw and unflinching as the fights it portrays.
At the heart of the film is Grazyna “The Tramp” Jarzynowska, a British-Polish MMA fighter whose meteoric rise in the male-dominated world of combat sports is abruptly disrupted by an unexpected pregnancy. Grappling with the fallout of a failed abortion and the sacrifices demanded by both her career and motherhood, Grazyna embarks on a journey of redemption and resilience that tests her to her very core.

TRAMP is more than a sports drama; it’s a story of survival in every sense. Through gripping MMA bouts, underground street fights, and emotionally charged moments, the film examines Grazyna’s struggle to balance ambition with the realities of her new life.
Adding further tension to the narrative, Grazyna’s brother Pawel faces violent harassment from a loan shark, dragging the siblings into a perilous web of danger. With its blend of high-octane action and poetic intimacy, TRAMP delivers a cinematic experience that resonates far beyond the ring.
A Stellar Cast Brings the Story to Life
The film boasts a powerhouse cast, headlined by Izabella Malewska in a riveting performance as Grazyna. Known for her roles in TV series Holby City and Cold Feet, Izabella is also the winner of a Best Actress award at the Underwire Festival. Michal Wlodarczyk (The Londoners 2008) plays Pawel, her troubled coach and brother, marking another collaboration with McGoldrick following their award-winning short Siemiany.
Alessandro Babalola (Top Boy, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare) takes on the role of Dom, a complex and magnetic figure whose relationship with Grazyna adds layers to the storytelling. Real-life athletes Ruqsana Begum, a kickboxing and Muay Thai champion, and Ruth Nelson, a three-time world champion, bring authenticity to the film’s intense fight sequences.

“At its heart, TRAMP is a deeply personal and inspiring story, shaped by my experience witnessing my partner and co-producer Marina’s extraordinary strength during a difficult pregnancy. The film explores the untold struggles of women in professional sports, focusing on the tension between Grazyna’s relentless pursuit of success and her evolving journey into motherhood.
During the final days of filming, Marina went into labor, and the real-life footage of our son’s birth was incorporated into the film. This felt like a fitting tribute to the themes of resilience, reinvention, and embracing life’s unexpected challenges.”

Philip James McGoldrick, an award-winning British-European film director, writer, and producer, was born in Warsaw in 1987. A graduate of the RITCS film academy in Brussels, he studied Directing Fiction at the UK’s National Film & Television School on scholarship. His films have garnered 50+ international award nominations. His short film Siemiany won the Premiers Plans Grand Prix de Jury and Paris Shorts’ Best Director award, and was nominated for the Crystal Bear at Berlinale. In 2024, he won the Shiny Award for Born of Violence and is finalizing his debut feature TRAMP while developing a documentary, Born of Violence.
